A combination of pedestrian bowling and poor fielding saw India lose against Australia at Mohali in the first T20I, despite setting a massive target of 209 runs. The Indian fielding lately has come under the scanner, with a lot of simple catches being dropped at crucial moments that have cost the side several games.

Last night, Indian fielders dropped the likes of Cameron Green and Matthew Wade, who cashed in on these and helped their side to a historic win to gain a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has lashed out at India's current fielding skills. Once a sharp and agile outfit in the field, many players in the current setup are susceptible.

 "If you look at all the top Indian teams over the years, there is youth and experience. I find the youth missing here and hence the fielding. If you look at the last five-six years, fielding wise, I think this side is no match to any of the top sides when it comes to fielding. And that can hit badly in big tournaments,"

"It means that as a batting side you have to get that 15-20 runs game after game, because if you look around the field, where is brilliance? There is no Jadeja. Where is that X-factor? What I was disappointed today with was the standard of fielding."

Rohit Sharma and Co. have a short turn-around, with the second T20I on September 23 at Nagpur.
