In the latest development, The All-India Women's Selection Committee announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's Asia Cup, set to take place in Bangladesh from October 1.

As expected, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side, with Smriti Mandhana set to be her deputy in the mega event. Shafali Verma has been handed yet another opportunity despite her consistent failures at the international level.

The trio of Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh, will form a formidable middle order alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Interestingly India have gone with just one wicket-keeper batter in (Ghosh), which is a bit of surprise. Kiran Navgire also gets a nod and will look to grab the opportunity with both hands.

Taniya Bhatia and Simran Dil Bahadur are the stand-by players in the squad.

Team India have selected a strong bowling core with Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad handling the spin department. The newest sensation in Indian cricket, Renuka Singh Thakur will have a huge responsibility to lead the pace attack.

Team India kick-start their campaign against Sri Lanka women on October 1.
