Sean Dickson joins Somerset on three-year deal starting 2023

Veteran opener Sean Dickson has moved from Durham County Cricket Club (DCCC) to Somerset County Cricket Club (SCCC) for the upcoming 2023 domestic season and beyond. Dickson signed a three-year deal with Somerset, having played for Durham between 2020 and 2022, after moving from Kent County Cricket Club (KCCC).

The 31-year-old has played 85 First-Class games since 2013 and has amassed 4,736 runs with 14 tons and 17 half-centuries, playing for clubs like Kent and Durham.

Dickson, in his final season with Durham so far, has scored 824 County Championship Division Two runs, including four hundred and two fifties. He scored just 118 runs in the recently concluded Royal London Cup 2022.

Dickson sounded pleased with his new association 

 “I can’t wait to get started. It’s an exciting challenge and I will be working hard to help the Club win trophies. By doing that I will hopefully move myself closer to fulfilling my goals within the game over the next few years.”

Director of Cricket Somerset, Andy Hurry, is hopeful that Dickson will do well for the county moving forward

"To secure a player of Sean’s quality is a coup for the Club. He is a proven performer with the bat at this level and has strong aspirations to play on the very highest stage. We have been looking to strengthen our batting at the top of the order and Sean fits that bill perfectly."
