New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced a strong-15 man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, under the leadership of Kane Williamson, who will lead his nation for the third time in a global event.

Williamson, as captain, led the Blackcaps to the final of ICC World Cup 2019 in England, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, only to end up as runner's up on both occasions. Off-late, Williamson has struggled to score runs, which is a cause of concern for the side.

However, coach Gary Stead is unfazed by this, and backed the star batter to find form in time for the marquee event.

“I think any time that you’ve been out of the game for a while there’s obviously that nervousness when they come back into the game. I know Kane would’ve liked to score some more runs but look… they say that form is temporary and class is permanent, and he’s a classy person.

"He’s a classy player and I expect that there are runs just around the corner for him."

The Kiwis' coach spoke in depth about their approach as a team, which places more importance on the form on a given day than past laurels.

New Zealand are scheduled to host Bangladesh and Pakistan in a T20I tri-nation series at home starting October 7.
