Former Australian cricketer and one of the top and most renowned coaches in the world, Tom Moody's stint as Director of Cricket in Sri Lanka has come to a premature end after both of them mutually decided to discontinue his contract.

An official mentioned that his services were not needed since he was answerable to the Technical Advisory Committee, which is no longer operational. Moody was hired in a three-year role, however, now it has been reduced to just one-and-half years.

Moody after his departure said that "It was a privilege to service SLC again and I'm proud of what I managed to achieve during my term with the guidance of the Technical Advisory Committee."

What Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement

SLC after Moody's departure thanked him for his contributions to the Island nation's growth in cricket.

"Moody's appointment as the director of cricket, effective March 1, 2021, was made based on a recommendation by the Technical Advisory Committee of the SLC. Sri Lanka Cricket, while thanking Tom for his contribution to the game of cricket in Sri Lanka during his tenure, wishes him the very best for his future endeavours,"

It is, however, been reported that Mahela Jayawardena might overtake the side in a big role of overseeing the progress of their cricket. The right-hander might be taking up the role in addition to his current global role at Mumbai Indians.
