The second edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) kicked off on September 17 in a grand fashion, with the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata hosting the tournament opener.

The first match of the season witnessed a high-scoring thriller between Virender Sehwag-led Gujarat Giants and India Capitals, with the former of the two emerging victorious by three wickets.

The Ireland veteran Kevin O'Brien rolled back the years with his sensational hitting to pull off a heist and chase down the winning target of 179 runs and won the season opener for Gujarat single-handedly.

Though skipper Sehwag failed to pick up runs under his belt in the opening match, he backed himself to come good in the upcoming fixtures and entertain fans once again with his destructive batting skills.

Addressing the media ahead of their second match against Manipal Tigers on Monday, here is what Sehwag said:

“It was a great start. Kevin scored a century and our bowlers also played well. With this opportunity to return to the cricketing field, I would try to entertain fans once again with my batting. And I hope our team keeps playing well and wins the trophy.”

Meanwhile, former India pacer and Gujarat Giants' coach, Venkatesh Prasad opened up on his role in the team and expressed delight to be a part of the Virender Sehwag-led outlet.

"It's a great opportunity for me to be associated with Gujarat Giants. These cricketers are not just legends but also giants in the sport."

"Our mantra is to entertain the audience and viewers watching and following Gujarat Giants and bring the best and exhibit our skills. Hope we carry the momentum from the first game into the tournament."

Gujarat Giants after making a dazzling start to their Legends League campaign, are currently taking on Manipal Tigers in their second match, which is being played at Lucknow's Ekana Cricket Stadium.
