Fast bowler Navdeep Saini has been ruled out of India A series against New Zealand due to a right groin injury.

Saini suffered the injury on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy semi-final game between North Zone and South Zone. BCCI confirmed that he has been ruled out of the ongoing tournament, and also the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand A.

The pacer will now head towards NCA for further treatment on his injury. The selectors have named Rishi Dhawan as Saini's replacement in the India A squad.

Saini becomes the second Indian pacer to have been ruled out of a major series. BCCI also confirmed that Mohammed Shami has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been ruled out of the T20I series against the visiting Australian side.

Umesh Yadav, who has done well in the recently concluded Royal London ODI Cup has been named his replacement.
