Afghanistan T20I skipper Mohammad Nabi has reportedly been roped in by the Jamaica Tallawahs for the ongoing season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

According to speculations, Nabi has been signed by the Jamaica-based side as a replacement for Sandeep Lamichhane. However, there is no official word from the team on this news.

Earlier, Lamichhane pulled out of the tournament after being suspended by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him over allegations of raping a minor girl. After which the 25-year-old leg spinner announced that he will take leave from the CPL 2022 and will go back to Nepal.

Having played CPL before, this will be Nabi’s third stint at the Caribbean T20 tournament. He has previously represented St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and the Saint Lucia Kings. In 12 matches at the tournament, the player has taken 9 wickets and managed to score 98 runs at an average of 24.50 and a blistering strike rate of 196 which includes a couple of crucial cameos. With the ball, he has already proved his mettle by picking up a five-wicket haul in the game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2020.

A T20 globetrotter, destructive with the bat lower down the order, and canny with the ball, Nabi has been a great asset for Afghanistan and his franchises. An ODI strike rate of 85.0 and a T20I strike rate of 140.04, proves his caliber with the willow. Above all Nabi brings all his invaluable experience to the forefront wherever he plays.

If sources are to be believed then, Nabi will be available for selection for the Tallawahs from the start of the Guyana leg of the tournament.
