One of the biggest improvement stories in the last few years has been Rishabh Pant with the gloves. The southpaw was always criticized heavily for missing a lot of chances.

However, in a positive turnaround of events, Pant has now become one of the best glovemen in the world. The question for who after the great magician behind the stumps, M.S. Dhoni has been rested at least for quite some time now, owing to Pant's exponential improvement. One of many who was impressed by the youngster's progress was former fielding coach R. Sridhar.

Sridhar, speaking to cricket.com, as quoted by Hindustan Times stated that Pant had improved leaps and bounds as a wicketkeeper and that he felt fortunate enough to be a part of that journey.

He sacrificed batting sessions to improve his wicketkeeping

Sridhar said he was surprised by the fact that the youngster worked so hard prior to the landmark Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2021 wherein he shone both with the gloves and that bat.

“He worked hard so hard on that Australian tour. It was mind-boggling. He sacrificed batting sessions to improve his wicketkeeping. I don't see any modern-day cricketer doing that. He did that.

He went drill after drill to improve his footwork, glove-work, reaction skills, hand-eye coordination skills. I can write a book about it. I can go on and on. He worked really hard,” said Sridhar.
