India were left to answer a lot of questions following the elimination from the Asia Cup 2022, where they entered the tournament as heavy favourites to win the tournament.

India's performance in the Asia Cup has left the cricketing experts and fans greatly disappointed because the tournament was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup 2022 which will begin in October in Australia.

Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardena feels even though Jadeja's absence will be a big loss, India can still be confident heading into the world tournament.

"It is a challenge. They had fitted him nicely in that No.5 role. He has been batting really well and him and Hardik (Pandya) being in that top six – two guys who can give that all-round options – gave India much more flexibility in that batting order,"

"But not having Jadeja, the form that he was in... it will be a massive loss for them."

Virat's return to form, Jasprit back in the squad big positives

Jayawardena also stated that one of the biggest positives for the Indian side was Virat Kohli's return to form, after he scored an international century after a huge gap of two years.

The 45 year old further added that the Indian team will be further bolstered by the addition of Jasprit Bumrah. The spearhead of the Indian pace department missed out on the Asia Cup due to an injury.
