It was a scary moment in Coimbatore's SNR College Cricket ground after India and Central Zone's all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer suffered a significant blow to his neck following a throw from the fielder Chintan Gaja. Following this, the ambulance was called to the field, but fortunately, Iyer decided to walk himself out on his feet.

The incident happened during the ongoing Duleep Trophy match semi-final between West Zone and Central Zone when the southpaw was batting on 6. However, he made a comeback to the field to continue his innings but eventually lost his wicket at the score of 14.

Iyer was in severe pain when the ambulance was asked to enter the field, still, the all-rounder demonstrated grittiness by not just walking out but, in fact, coming back in a bid to rescue his side Central Zone's innings, who were struggling at 94 for 7, trailing by 163 in the first innings.

The left-hander was boarded to the hospital for scans, the results for which are awaited. Furthermore, he didn't turn out to field in the second innings, which might be a precautionary measure.

In reply, Central Zone could only manage 128 after three wickets each by Jaydev Unadkat and Tanush Kotian.
