In the latest development, Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as the new head coach of the Punjab Kings. He has replaced Anil Kumble who held the position since 2019.

Previously, Bayliss worked with Kolkata Knight Riders, and helped them win the coveted title in 2012 and 2014.

Punjab Kings have failed to make it to the playoffs under Kumble's regime, and this promted the management not to renew his contract.

Bayliss comes in with a lot of pedigree. He was the head coach of the England side that won the World Cup in 2019.  Apart from KKR, he also has the experience of working with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020 and 2021.

Recently he was a part of the London Spirit coaching team for the second edition of The Hundred. Over the years PBKS have tweaked a lot with their coaching management. The former Indian skipper was their fifth coach in five years, after Sanjay Bangar (2014-16), Virender Sehwag (2017), Brad Hodge (2018), and Mike Hesson (2019).

Under Kumble's reign, Punjab Kings won 19 games and lost 23 across the three seasons that he managed.
