The veteran pacer Mohammad Amir has slammed Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim after the squad announcement for the T20I World Cup 2022.

PCB on Thursday (15 September) named the 18-member touring squad for the showpiece event which has left fans divided on the selections of some of the players.

Recently, Pakistan had a successful campaign in the Asia Cup, wherein they emerged as the runners-up. However, their last two fixtures saw them losing comprehensively to Sri Lanka, which became a matter of debate.

The key concerns for the team were Babar Azam' form, Mohammad Rizwan' strike-rate, and the inconsistency of the middle-order.

Despite producing dismal performances in the tournament, Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah were named in the T20I WC squad.

In this regard, Amir posted a cryptic tweet targeting Wasim for his decisions, and called it a cheap selection

In December 2020, the 30-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket due to being mentally tortured by the PCB management.
