Mohammad Rizwan, the top-run scorer for Pakistan in the Asia Cup thinks Sri Lanka rode well with the momentum to lift the title.

After being put to bat first, Sri Lanka had a precarious start, wherein they were stuttering at 58/5, against the skilful bowling unit. Nonetheless, the fighting spirit of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga staged a comeback for the team.

After the dismissal of Hasaranga (36), Rajapaksa increased the tempo and finished the innings with an exquisite six over the covers to remain unbeaten on 71, which helped Sri Lanka to post 170.

Coming to the second half with confidence, Sri Lanka got major breakthroughs in the form of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman. Although Rizwan (55) and Iftikhar Ahmed (32) maintained their presence at the crease, they left it too much at the end for the lower middle order.

In the end, Pakistan's innings was wrapped up for 147, resulting in the Dasun Shanaka-led side winning the game by 23 runs.

In this regard, Rizwan thinks the Men in Green made mistakes in letting Sri Lanka score a few extra runs, which ultimately cost them the illustrious title.

"I think Sri Lanka played really well. The way they picked the momentum after being 58-5, they deserved to be the winners. As I said, we made mistakes, we are humans and mistakes do happen. I feel the end momentum is important. In both, the innings the end momentum was with the Lankans and they ended going past the finishing line."
