Champion Afghanistan wrist-spinner Rashid Khan is all set to return to the Caribbean Premier League, with defending champions St Kitts & Nevis Patriots announcing him as Wanindu Hasaranga's replacement for the remainder of CPL 2022.

Hasaranga, who is currently representing the national side in Asia Cup 2022, is said to be unavailable for the remainder of the ongoing CPL season.

Patriots' assistant coach and strategy coach, Malolan Rangarajan, took to his Twitter account to reveal Rashid's appointment.

Rashid Khan has had stellar success in the CPL

Rashid Khan will feature in the Caribbean Premier League  this year after missing out on the last year's edition.

The champion spinner has previously represented teams like Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Royals (previously Tridents) in the T20 tournament. And, with great success.

Khan claimed the league's first-ever hat-trick in the 2017 edition for Barbados Royals against Jamaica Tallawahs.

He was also the highest wicket-taker for the Royals - 11 wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 6.85.

Rashid was the second-highest wicket-taker for Afghanistan in the Asia Cup - 6 wickets in 5 games.

The Patriots will be bolstered with the addition of Rashid as they aim to change their fortunes in the ongoing edition after managing just 1 victory in 5 outings.
