Shadab Khan believes Pakistan winning the Asia Cup 2022 and bilateral series against top cricketing nations will help them to be called as a champion side.

Currently, the Babar Azam- led side has made it to the finals of the Asia Cup, with two wins in three league matches of the Super-four stage.

However, their batting performances have been dismal in the last two matches, with the latest one also paving the way for their loss to Sri Lanka.

The Men in Green tumbled from  63/2 to 121/10, with the inability of middle-order batters to prevail against proficient Lankan spinners.

In this regard, Shadab thinks a champion side should not collapse under pressure, and rather the set batters should finish the game. Further, he hoped that the team would learn from these situations and perform well on Sunday in the Asia Cup Finals.

"We are a great team, but in order to become a champion side, we need to win this tournament and other high-profile series. I have said before that champion teams handle pressure well and prevail in clutch moments, and this is what we will aim for on the Sunday Finale. Winning against Sri Lanka and claiming the Asia Cup title is the real deal for us!"

Can Pakistan produce a fightback against Sri Lanka?

So far, the bowling unit has been proficient to stage a comeback for Pakistan in multiple occasions. However, the likes of Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali are yet to deliver their best and Babar Azam's batting woes have continued as well.

It will be interesting to see if Pakistan can overcome these challenges and lift their third Asia Cup title.
