Netherlands head coach Ryan Campbell has decided to not avail of a contract extension after his tenure is scheduled to end this month.

However, the 50-year-old has agreed to be a consultant coach for the team in the T20 World Cup 2022 to assist the head coach Ryan Cook.

Campbell became the coach of the Netherlands team in April 2017. He tasted success in the World Cricket League (WCL), which resulted in them finding the spot in the ODI Super League 2020-23.

Ryan Campbell's Statement

“It’s been a turbulent year during which I’ve had the opportunity to think extensively about my future and that of my family. After the great successes in recent years, I feel it is now time to pass on the baton."

"I’m looking forward to this upcoming World Cup, with which I can end a fantastic period with the Dutch national team."

Health woes

Earlier this year, Campbell suffered a cardiac arrest and was in a coma for several days. But fortunately, his health improved. In his absence, Cook has been serving as the interim coach of the team.

In July, the Dutch team under Cook returned with bright performances and qualified for the T20 World Cup slated to be played in October-November.
