England skipper Ben Stokes wants the third and final Test match against South Africa to continue in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The ongoing fixture between both teams was suspended at Kennington Oval due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

The entire Day 1 of the series decider was abandoned due to rain on Thursday as well.

Further, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are said to be in active talks with the government regarding the resumption of sporting activities in the country.

Stokes took to Twitter to respond to footballer Darren Huckerby on Friday afternoon, and said, "She (Queen Elizabeth II) loved sport, be honoured to play in her memory. "

Along with the cricket matches, all the Football matches, horse racing and the PGA Championship came to a stand-still in the country.

The financial implications, security concerns and public sentiment are few of the parameters checked upon by ECB to arrive at the decision on Friday.

The England Women are slated to play a white-ball series against Indian Women team from Saturday. It is doubtful whether the series will start without a delay, owing to the latest development.

In addition, the England Men's team will also head to Pakistan in a few days' time to play a seven-match T20I series.
