St Lucia Kings secured a thrilling victory by two wickets against Jamaica Tallawahs in the ninth match of CPL 2022 at Gros Islet. This is their maiden victory in the ongoing season.

Raymon Reifer propels Tallawahs to a competitive total

Invited to bat first, Brandon King (19) and Kennar Lewis (19) got Tallawahs to a stable start. However, their wickets triggered the further collapse, as the experienced campaigners, Rovman Powell and Shamarh Brooks could not provide notable contributions.

It was the 59-run stand of Raymon Reifer and Imad Wasim, which put Tallawahs in good stead. Reifer continued his bright form in the T20 format to slam 62 off 41, with four fours and as many sixes.

In the end, Tallawahs finished on 163/8, while Scott Kuggeleijn was the pick of the bowlers for the Kings with three scalps.

Johnson Charles help Kings to open their account

In response to the chase, Kings lost their key batters Niroshan Dickwella and Faf du Plessis early to the proficient Mohammad Amir. Soon, Roston Chase became a victim to Wasim, which put Kings under the pump.

However, Tim David (20) was a strong support to the opener Johnson Charles in resurrecting the innings. Charles' fighting 39-ball 62 came to an end in the 15th over, and Tallawahs were back into the contest.

However, the knocks of Roshon Primus (22) and David Wiese (20*) paved the way for Kings to seal the victory, with a ball to spare.
