Ahead of the upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022, the Adelaide Strikers have announced the signing of two new talents — Anesu Mushangwe and Ella Wilson — into their roster for WBBL 08.

Mushangwe, who has played 21 T20Is for Zimbabwe, will be the first player from her nation to feature in the WBBL.

She has been one of the star performers in the SACA Premier Cricket since 2019, representing Glenelg.

Apart from being named the 2021-22 Women's Team of the Year, the 26-year-old was Glenelg's leading wicket-taker in the Women's First-Grade and T20 competitions.

In a recent Tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Uganda, the spin all-rounder claimed the most wickets for her side.

Wilson, who came in as a replacement player last season, received her full-time call-up to the squad. A fast-bowling all-rounder herself, Wilson was South Australia's Under-19 captain in the National Championship 2022.

She, like Mushangwe, plays for the Adelaide-based club Glenelg and won her first state contract for SA Scorpions next summer.

Mushangwe expressed her thrill at being part of the club for her maiden WBBL experience.

"I am very grateful for this opportunity, it is a dream come true to be a part of the squad. I am very excited to see how things go this season."

Wilson, too, shared her excitement at being associated with the Strikers once again.

"I had a great experience being involved with the team in Tasmania last year as a replacement player. I am super proud to be brought back this year to play with and against the best in the world."

Assistant coach Jude Coleman welcomed both players into the squad.

"We are excited to welcome Ella back for WBBL|08 after she had a taste of the WBBL last year. Anesu has been rewarded for some very consistent Premier Cricket performances over the past couple of seasons."

Adelaide's WBBL gets underway from October 15, when they take on Sydney Sixers.
