Asia Cup 2022: Win over India lifted Pakistan's morale, says Saqlain Mushtaq

After a narrow loss against India in the tournament opener, Pakistan managed to notch up a crucial Super four stage win over their arch-nemesis in the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday evening.

Chasing a target of 182 runs, Pakistan took the match into the final over after a magnificent cameo from Mohammad Nawaz caught India off guard.

Nawaz hit a 20-ball 42, while Mohammad Rizwan anchored the chase quite comfortably, making 71 runs. Asif Ali completely the formalities after scoring a 16 off 8, guiding his side to a five-wicket win.

In the aftermath of Pakistan's stunning victory, head coach Saqlain Mushtaq called the win a morale booster for the side going ahead.  

“The win against India has certainly lifted the morale of the team and brought to light the depth of our batting unit,"

"Mohammad Nawaz is a utility player. It is just extraordinary how this youngster went in and took the game away from India in a matter of a few overs."

Pakistan will take on Afghanistan in Sharjah today evening, and a win tonight will ensure the Babar Azam-led side a spot in the final of the six-nation tournament due on 10 September.
