Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has been declared fit and available for selection in the next Asia Cup Super Four clash against Afghanistan, scheduled on Wednesday.

Rizwan hurt himself in the Super Four encounter against India while keeping wicket after landing awkwardly on his right leg, but was able to continue. He anchored the innings and reached fifty in 37 balls. He forged a match-winning partnership with all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz to set up a thrilling five-wicket win for Pakistan in their opening Super Four game against India in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

The injury to Rizwan occurred during the first innings while India were batting. In the 15th over, Mohammad Hasnain bowled a quick bouncer to Deepak Hooda, who tried to ramp it over the keeper's head but failed to make a connection with the ball. In an attempt to save extra runs, Rizwan jumped and landed awkwardly on the turf and injured his right leg.

After winning the cliffhanger, Rizwan underwent an MRI scan. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Rizwan, who seemed to have sustained an injury during the clash between the arch-rivals Pakistan and India, will be fit for Wednesday's fixture against Afghanistan at Sharjah.

However, the medical team has suggested a follow-up scan as a precautionary measure. It was confirmed earlier that Rizwan did not participate in the team’s scheduled practice session in order to be completely fit for the Afghanistan match.

Pakistan have been affected by multiple injuries in this Asia Cup, with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr ruled out before the tournament, and Shahnawaz Dahani sidelined during the event.
