The young seamer Arshdeep Singh has been termed as a villain for India’s loss against Pakistan in the much-hyped Asia Cup 2022 fixture. As India were defending a good total of 182 runs, Arshdeep caused a blunder in the 18th over of the second innings.

In 17 overs, Pakistan accumulated a good 148 runs to keep their chances of winning alive. India desperately needed a wicket and Ravi Bishnoi provided that golden chance on the third ball of the 18th over. The spinner bowled a slog-sweep and Asif Ali top-edged it towards Arshdeep.

However, the seamer failed to cash in on the opportunity as he dropped a sitter. It proved to be a major game-changing moment as Asif went on to play a quick-fire knock of 16 runs off eight balls. Also, the Punjab Kings bowler couldn’t defend seven runs in the final over and India lost the game by five wickets.

The Men in Blue losing a game against the arch-rivals didn’t go down well with a lot of fans as they took to social media to vent out their frustration. Arshdeep became an easy target for the trollers as they brutally slammed him.

Tendulkar posts a heartwarming tweet

Amidst a trial on social media, the youngster received overwhelming love and support from the Indian cricket fraternity. A lot of renowned personalities, including the likes of Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh, and Mohammed Shami, came in the support of the 23-year-old. Former Indian skipper and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is the latest to join the bandwagon.

Tendulkar posted a heartwarming tweet to remind people that mistakes happen and cricket should be free from any kind of personal attacks.

Tendulkar wrote on his official Twitter handle,

"Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let's keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks. Arshdeep Singh keeps working hard.”

Not only Indian cricketers, but the players from Pakistan have also backed the young rookie. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez requested the fans to stop trolling Arshdeep as catches can be dropped by any player.
