India pacer Avesh Khan has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 with illness. As per reports, the 25-year-old will be replaced by Deepak Chahar.

Earlier, the Men in Blue were dealt with a major injury blow as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the tournament with an injury.

The development will come as a major blow for Avesh Khan, who has had his fair share of criticism in recent months. The bowler has been backed significantly by captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid.

However, he has not been at his best in the Asia Cup so far. He conceded 19 runs and picked up a wicket against Pakistan on the 28th of August and then followed it up with a dismal bowling performance against Hong Kong.

The 25-year-old was taken to the cleaners against Hong Kong as he leaked 53 runs in four overs, picking up just one wicket. It is clear that Khan has not made the most of his chances so far.

On the other hand, youngster Arshdeep Singh has done reasonably well with the opportunities he has had, and the 25-year-old will have to work hard to get back into the Indian starting lineup in the upcoming fixtures.
