This also means that Raina won't play domestic cricket anymore. The 35-year-old was a vital cog of Uttar Pradesh in the Indian domestic circuit since debuting in the 2002-03 season.

Speaking to the Dainik Jagran, Raina stressed that he wouldn't participate in the Indian domestic tournaments in order to assure the budding players a place in the state team.

The swashbuckling southpaw thanked the BCCI and UPCA for their constant support over the years and confirmed his participation in the upcoming Road Safety world series.

"I want to thank BCCI and UPCA for supporting me in my career. I am looking forward to play in different leagues around the world. I will feature in the Road Safety world series which starts on 10th September. Franchises from South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE have approached me till now. Once the situation gets cleared, i will inform everyone myself."

Raina, a stalwart in Indian cricket, was a crucial part of the World Cup winning side in 2011. He was a match-winner for the Chennai Super Kings and features among the highest run-getters in the history of IPL, with 5528 runs at an average of 32.5 and a healthy strike rate of 136.7.
