Virat Kohli recently revealed that MS Dhoni was the only one who texted him after he left India’s Test captaincy earlier this year. The batting maverick dropped the bombshell following India’s final over defeat to Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2022 bout.

A day after his revelation, former Indian captain and cricket expert Sunil Gavaskar stated that Kohli should have also specifically named players who did not texted him. Apparently, the cricketer-turned-commentator is of the opinion that revealing other names would have been fair to those who had actually wished him.

Sunil Gavaskar trolled for his comments on Kohli’s latest reveal

While speaking on India Today, Gavaskar gave his take on Kohli’s latest revelation about Dhoni. The former Indian cricketer believes Kohli should have named the people who did not got in touch with him during his Test captaincy downfall. He said:

“I don't know what the dressing room inside situation was with all these other players, I think, ideally, if he is named one person who got in touch, maybe the other people who didn't get in touch should have also been named. Then that would have been a little bit fair to everyone concerned rather than thinking everybody else didn't get in touch with him.”

Notably, his comments garnered a lot of heat, specifically from Kohli and Dhoni fans. A legion of such supporters took to Twitter and trolled Gavaskar, describing his comments as “bland” and “unwanted”. Here is a look at some of the fan reactions on the microblogging site:

In the meantime, Kohli has dropped three successive notable contributions in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. With two half-centuries, the right-hander has already piled up 154 runs in the tournament at an average of 77. He will now go up against Sri Lanka in a must-win game for India on September 6.
