Virender Sehwag believes India plays around Virat Kohli

Praises for Virat Kohli have been pouring in after the star-batter scored two 50s in three fixtures in the Asia Cup 2022.

Former Indian veteran Virender Sehwag has an interesting take on Kohli's redeemed form.

On Sunday, India lost to arch-rivals Pakistan in what was a thrilling game. The former skipper led the batting attack, scoring a brilliant 44 ball 60, but his efforts went in vain as India were unable to defend their below par total.

What Sehwag had to say

“We expect too much from Virat Kohli. Whenever he walks out to bat, we wish him to score big, at least a hundred. People discuss when he will break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries. So, when he gets 40, 50 or 60, we don’t even count. So, this is the reason, I think people have been discussing him a lot,”

“For me, he was always in form but couldn’t convert good starts to bigger scores. But this innings [against Pakistan] was crucial. Rohit and Rahul gave a superb start to the innings but one person around whom this Indian team plays is Virat Kohli. Had he lost his wicket early, the total of 181 could have been somewhere around 151.

India's next battle

India is set to face Sri Lanka in their next fixture after a defeat against Pakistan. In the super 4 stage, India currently has 0 points, whereas, Sri Lanka and Pakistan both are at par with 2 points each.
