Nottinghampshire CCC have extended their contract with the 21 year-old seamer James Hayes. The pacer is set to stay Trent Bridge till 2024.

Hayes' history with NCCC

The pacer initially received a one-year deal with the club in 2021. He has garnered attention in the Second XI championships, scalping a total of 21 wickets in the season. He made his debut for the club in the Royal London Cup tournament 2022. In a particular game against Middlesex, the 21 year-old amassed a figure of 2-58 from ten overs.

He took his career best figures against Warwickshire , 5-20 from 12 overs in a Second XI championship fixture. His second best figure came against Lancashire (4-18) in the same tournament in May.

Hayes delighted with opportunity

“My game has come on massively in the last 18 months, and getting this extension feels like a reward for the work I have put in to improve physically and technically,”

“To get the opportunity to remain for two more years provides a bit of security, and I am really excited to see how I can continue to progress in that time.”

Head Coach Peter Moores lavishes praise

“What I love about James is that he combines being really humble and grateful for the experience with belief in his ability, a strong desire to learn and a determination to put in the hard work needed to get better.”
