In a major update to uplift English Cricket fans, Jofra Archer has made it back to the Sussex nets during his path to recovery from elbow and back issues.

Archer last featured for the Three Lions in March 2021 against India, before he was ruled out due to a hand injury. Later in the same year, the 27-year-old underwent an operation for his elbow injury.

Just as it looked like Archer was returning to competitive cricket, he was ruled out of the entire 2022 Summer due to a stress fracture in his back. The recurring injury meant he would be missing the T20I World Cup as well.

Still, in the early stages of his rehabilitation, the belligerent pacer is hoping to be fully fit by October-November to make himself available for selection next year.

The veteran pacer and Sussex player, Steven Finn confirmed that the England Physios are in constant touch with Archer to track his progress. Further, he confirmed that Archer is well on track to fitness and is in high spirits.

“He’s progressing nicely. I’ve seen him a fair bit over the last few weeks and he’s very positive about the way it’s all progressing and healing. The England physios are down quite frequently visiting him and checking how he’s getting on," said Finn.

"I’m not sure if he’s bowled yet to be honest with you but I’ve seen him batting a couple of times and he seems in good spirits."

Jofra Archer key to England's plans

Archer remained a key player for the English team until his injury in 2021. The high point of his career arrived when he scalped 20 wickets in 11 games to help the team lift the 2019 ODI World Cup title.

Further, Archer bagged 22 wickets in four appearances of the Ashes 2019, which propelled England to level the series.

With an all-format proficiency, the rampant pacer will be crucial to the England team.
