Williams will feature in Northamptonshire's final four championship games against Hampshire, Surrey, Somerset, and Essex.

The club currently occupies the fifth position in the County Championship Division one table, with two wins, two losses, and six draws. This will be the 28-year-old's maiden stint with the County club, having represented South Africa in two Tests, one One-Day International, and six T20Is, since 2021.

In the club's statement, Williams, who will be their 537th First-Class player, expressed his delight and looked forward to playing on the ground.

"I'm looking forward to joining up with the squad and hitting the ground running. I've been following the team since my former team-mates Rory Kleinveldt and Richard Levi played here.

The team is in a strong position in the County Championship and I hope I can contribute towards some positive results in the upcoming games.”

Northamptonshire bowling coach Chris Liddle welcomed The Proteas international to the club, which further boasts the side's bowling expertise.

“It’s great to have Lizaad with us until the end of the season, we know it’s going to be four very competitive games coming up and to have Lizaad here with his test match experience and class is great for us.”

The Vredenburg-born fast bowler has played 67 FC, 56 List-A, and 57 T20 games, picking up 209, 75, and 72 wickets, respectively. The lanky bowler plays his domestic cricket for Boland and T20 cricket for Cape Cobras.
