Veteran Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez launched an attack on the PCB for their handling of left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi's injury.

Afridi suffered a knee injury during the Test series in Sri Lanka last month. The southpaw was eventually ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup and the home T20Is against England.

Afridi travelled to the UAE with Pakistan's squad, which raised a lot of eyebrows.

Taking to his Twitter account, Hafeez shared a video where he accused the PCB of wasting precious time in kickstarting Shaheen's rehabilitation.

Earlier this week, the PCB revealed that Shaheen will travel to London, where he will undergo "uninterrupted, dedicated knee specialist care". However, Hafeez is of the opinion that Afridi should have been sent to London the moment he got diagnosed and unnecessary time-wasting is a 'criminal act'.

Here's what Mohammad Hafeez said:

"My problem with Shaheen is that he is not just Pakistan's product but that of the world. The world wants to see him. We have to look after him in a right way."

"The things that I read and heard over the last few days, there was an official post. So this time period of 4 weeks or 6 weeks or 8 weeks - since the time he got injured, I think wasting this time is a criminal act."

"I feel they should have taken this decision when he got injured in the first place. They should have settled their findings straight away and should have sent him for the best rehab to England or wherever else," as quoted by NDTV.

Can Pakistan recover in the absence of Shaheen Afridi?

Hafeez further added that a player like Shaheen isn't only a Pakistani product but he is also an asset for world cricket, and the PCB needs to look after him better.

Not just Shaheen, Pakistan have a problem of plenty as far as managing the fitness of their fast bowlers is concerned.

Apart from Afridi, the Babar Azam-led unit also lost the services of Mohammad Wasim Jr due to injury while Naseem Shah too also played with a niggle in the game against India.

Pakistan will look to bounce back from their heartbreaking defeat against India and book their Super-4 spot when they lock horns with Hong Kong on September 01.
