One of the most promising batters on the England domestic circuit, Tom Banton has signed a two-year deal with Somerset County Cricket Club (SCCC). The partnership ensures the 23-year-old's stay at Somerset until 2024, having made his debut for the club in 2017.

Banton is a product of the Somerset Academy and was inducted into the club upon graduating. The hard-hitting batter has played 90 matches for the club, amassing 2,945 runs, which includes two T20 hundreds.

Speaking about his decision to stay with Somerset, Banton revealed his dream of winning the County Championship with the club, having won the Royal London Cup with them.

“It’s exciting. I love the Club, I’ve got a lot of really good friends here and there’s no other place I’d rather be. We’ve got a lot of good young players coming through and that provides good competition for places.

It keeps you on your toes and I feel that the Club is in a good position to be challenging on all fronts over the next few years. We’ve come close to winning the Blast in recent seasons and it’s a dream of mine to win the County Championship with Somerset."
