The newly appointed technical consultant of the Bangladesh team, Sridharan Sriram has lavished praise on the all-round abilities of skipper Shakib Al Hasan

With the experience of coaching in the IPL and international circuit, Sriram has certainly an eye to analyze the influence of Shakib in the Tigers line-up.

The southpaw last featured for Bangladesh in the T20I series against West Indies, wherein he slammed 102 runs and took two wickets. The 35-year-old has been given an opportunity to lead the team as well in the Asia Cup as well.

Ahead of Bangladesh's clash against Afghanistan on Tuesday (30 September), Sriram hailed Shakib's tactical approach in the shortest format.

"He is a very intelligent cricketer. I think the captain, Shakib, has been fantastic in laying down his expectations. He is very modern in the way he thinks about the T20 game, which I think is exceptional for Bangladesh," said Sriram at a press conference.

Sriram hails Shakib's exposure to different leagues

The 46-year-old thinks the main difference between Shakib and other cricketers has been the opulence of knowledge from playing different T20 leagues around the world, including the IPL.

Sriram believes a player is highly valuable if he can deliver four overs and possess an ability to hit sixes in the middle-order. He further added that Shakib holds the ability to outwit the opposition as Hardik Pandya has been doing for the Indian team in recent years.

"Somewhere I read India plays with 12 players when Hardik is around. We also have Shakib who bowls four overs and bat and definitely that is an advantage. "
