The veteran pacer James Anderson has praised Ben Stokes for his all-round abilities, which paved the way for England to secure a dominating victory against South Africa.

Stokes led from the front to deliver a knock of 113 off 163 balls and took a total of four wickets to help the Three Lions to win by an innings and 85 runs and level the series 1-1.

In particular, the skilful all-rounder dismissed Keegan Petersen and Rassie Van Der Dussen, who added 87 runs for the fourth wicket in the second innings.

Their wickets opened the floodgates for England to wrap up the tail in quick time and win by a significant margin.

Anderson hailed Stokes' work ethic for contributing to the team in crunch moments.

"He is an absolute freak, how he does that day-in and day-out. He just got a hundred yesterday, batting for however long and then putting in that spell. It made a huge difference. He is a machine," said Anderson.

Anderson loving the clear mindset of team management

The 40-year-old thinks the new leadership of head coach Brendon McCullum and Stokes has assigned a clear role to every individual, which has helped the players perform well for the team.

"Everyone is clear on their role and what the captain and coach expect of them. That is a massive help, it takes away any doubt and allows you to focus on your job.

With the match figures of 6/62, Anderson was proficient to bewilder Proteas batters and guide England to a victory.
