Barbados Royals (BR) emerged victorious by nine wickets against Guyana Amazon Warriors (GUY) in Match 6 of the 6ixty Women 2022 on Saturday (27 August) at Basseterre.

Royals bowlers restrict Warriors to a low total

The decision of the Warriors to bat first certainly backfired, when both openers fell early. Hayley Matthews plucked a stunning catch to dismiss Chamari Athapaththu (8), while Shemaine Campbelle (13) could not contribute much as well. 

The fighting knock of 28 off 25 from the skipper Stafanie Taylor comprised four boundaries and was a major support to the team in helping them to end on 58. 

Shakera Selman was the pick of the bowlers for the Royals with figures of 1/7 in 1.5 overs. 

Mathews, Tryon continue their rich form 

In response, Royals lost Britney Copper (1) to Shamilia Connell in the second over. However, the Royals skipper Matthews steered the team by piercing the gaps to hit boundaries. 

Matthews got a strong support of Chloe Tryon at the other end, who has been a key contributor for the Proteas in the last few months. 

Matthews remained unbeaten on 25 off 18, while Tryon scored 27* off 21 to seal the chase with 15 balls to spare.
