Barbados Royals (BR) have prevailed by 2 wickets over Guyana Amazon Warriors (GUY) in Match 8 of The 6ixty Men 2022 on Saturday (27 August) at Basseterre.
Hetmyer, Klaasen propel Warriors to a competitive total
It was a bad start to the innings for the Warriors, with the loss of key players like Chandrapaul Hemraj and Jermaine Blackwood.
It took the calm head of Heinrick Klaasen and Shimron Hetmyer to resurrect the team's innings and maintain a healthy run rate. Klaasen was dismissed for 24 off 15 in the seventh over.
Afterwards, Hetmyer was impressive with a knock of 32 off 18, laced with two fours and as many maximums to help the Warriors in finishing on a score of 108. Ramon Simmonds returned to be the pick of the bowlers for the Royals with figures of 2/9.
Top-order seal the game for Royals
The experienced opening pair of Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers were destructive from the word go to make full use of the fielding restrictions. Cornwall contributed 21 off 8, before getting holed out to Hetmyer off Veerasammy Permaul.
Mayers continued his glorious form to end on 31 off 16, with a single four and four sixes. Then, Corbin Bosch (26* off 11) and Harry Tector (14 off 8) were good support to the team in finishing off the chase with 10 balls to spare.
Permaul tried well with his figures of 2/12 in two overs.
