Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble's stint as head coach of IPL franchise Punjab Kings has come to an end, with the Preity Zinta co-owned franchise deciding not to renew his contract.

According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, the decision to relieve Kumble of his duties was taken by multiple stakeholders, which includes Zinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman, Karan Paul, and CEO Satish Menon.

The franchise is now on the hunt for a new coach and if reports are to be believed, the owners have approached the likes of Eoin Morgan and Trevor Bayliss for the same.

Kumble, who has previously coached the Mumbai Indians, was appointed head coach of PBKS in 2020.

Kumble's stint as Punjab Kings' coach proved to be massive disappointment

However, Kumble's coaching style and the constant chopping and changing of the set-up didn't help Punjab one bit.

In each of three seasons where he was at the helm, Punjab Kings finished in the lower half of the points table.

While they finished at the 5th spot in a 8-team tournament in 2020 and 2021, the Mayank Agarwal-led unit finished at 6th in the recent 10-team season.

Under Kumble, Punjab won just 18 games out of 42, losing 22. This happens to be the second worst Win-Loss ratio for any franchise after SunRisers Hyderabad.
