Priyank Panchal set to lead India A as BCCI announces squad for New Zealand A series

Veteran domestic batter Priyank Panchal has been chosen as the captain of India A team for the upcoming red ball series against New Zealand A. 

The inclusion of emerging players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, Tilak Varma, Sarfaraz Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Umran Malik etc. marks another major highlight of the selection. 

KS Bharat has been picked as the first-choice keeper, while Upendra Yadav has been chosen as his deputy. 

Since debuting in 2008, Panchal has gradually established himself as a stalwart in the Indian domestic circuit. In 101 First-Class appearances, the stylish right-handed batter has amassed 7068 runs at an impressive average of 45.3. 

Notably, New Zealand A will tour India to play three four-day games and as many One-day games against the home side. The red-ball games are scheduled at Bengaluru and Hubli from September 1 to 18, while the white-ball fixtures are set to be played in Chennai from September 22 to 27.
