Azam Khan has become the first Pakistan player to be signed for the upcoming UAE League (ILT20) after he was picked up by Desert Vipers.

Manchester United owners Glazers Family-backed Desert Vipers franchise on Friday (August 19) announced the signing of the hard-hitting Pakistan batter for the inaugural edition of International League T20.

Taking to Twitter, Desert Vipers also confirmed the signing of Pakistan hard-hitting batter Azam and termed it an exciting addition to the side.

"Pakistan keeper-batter Azam Khan is an exciting addition to Desert Vipers! He is one of the world's best players of spin in T20 cricket, averaging 35 with a strike rate of 160 against slower bowlers. Azam is ideally suited to attacking those middle overs for Desert Vipers," tweeted Desert Vipers.

Azam Khan, son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, has represented the country in three T20Is, having made his international debut against England in July 2021.

The big-built cricketer is known for his power-hitting on good batting surfaces in Pakistan and will be aiming to replicate it in UAE through his first season with the Desert Vipers.
