England captain Heather Knight set to miss WBBL, India series

Heather Knight’s prolonged absence from competitive cricket is set to extend further. The England women’s skipper sustained a hip injury in July which prompted her to stay out of the Commonwealth Games as well as the 2022 season of The Hundred.

Knight provides injury update

On Friday, August 19, the 31-year-old took to her social media accounts to provide an update regarding her injury. She stated that she has underwent a surgery and will now miss England’s upcoming home series against India Women.

Knight added that she will also have to skip this year’s Women’s Big Bash League season in Australia. 

“I’ve had a little clean out of my hip to get me back and running soon. Unfortunately, it rules me out of the India series and the WBBL, but I’m aiming to be back by the end of the year. Time to make the most of a bit of time away and bring on the rehab!”

Knight’s absence from the Commonwealth Games was felt by England, as her side failed to win a medal in Birmingham. They lost to India in the semi-final and went down to New Zealand in the subsequent bronze medal clash.

Team India tour of England 2022 updates

The Indian women’s team is set to tour England in September for three ODIs and three T20I matches. The two series will be taking place between September 10 and September 24.
