ZIM vs IND: Top-five highest individual scores


India are touring Zimbabwe after six long years. Previously, both the teams have encountered each other in 64 ODIs out of which India have won 52, and Zimbabwe have won 10 matches.

1. Kapil Dev - 175*

Legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev captained India to win the World Cup first time in 1983. However, Kapil's magnificent innings of 175 runs from 138 deliveries helped India survive in the World Cup race. 

In a must-win situation, India struggled with a score of 17/5. Skipper, Kapil Dev pulled India out of such a difficult situation as he smashed 16 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 126.81 which helped India put a defendable total of 266/8 on board.


2. Dinesh Mongia - 159*

India's opener, Dinesh Mongia is second on this list. In 2002, Zimbabwe toured India for a five-match ODI series which India won by 4-1. Mongia won the player of the series award as he scored 263 runs and scalped 3 wickets. 

However, what gained everyone's attention was Mongia's fine knock of 159 runs off 147 deliveries. Mongia played at a strike rate of 108.16 and smashed 17 boundaries and one maximum. His knock helped India score a massive total of 333/6 in the final match of the series.


3. Mohammad Azharuddin - 153*

India's supreme batter, Mohammad Azharuddin smashed 153 from 150 deliveries in a triangular series against Zimbabwe in 1998. Playing at No. 4, Azharuddin holds the record of the highest individual score in ODIs by Indian batters at No.4 position. 

In the match, India had a tricky start as they had lost 2 wickets for just 8 runs. Azharuddin played a fine knock which included 17 fours and one six at a strike rate of 102. Ajay Jadeja and Azharuddin stitched a partnership of 275* which helped India post 301 runs on the board.


4. Sachin Tendulkar - 146

Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record of scoring the most runs against Zimbabwe which is 1377. When Zimbabwe toured India in 2000, batting first Sachin played a fine knock of 146 runs from 153 deliveries at a strike rate of 95.42.

The right-hand batter smashed 15 fours and one maximum in his innings. However, Sachin's century went in vain as Zimbabwe chased the target, and won the match by one wicket.


5. Sourav Ganguly - 144

One of India's finest captains and left-hand opening batter, Sourav Ganguly led from the front against Zimbabwe at Ahmedabad in 2000. 

After losing his opening partner Sachin early, Ganguly took the charge of the innings. He scored 144 runs off 152 deliveries. Ganguly's fine knock helped India put 306/5 on board and win the match by 61 runs.
