Dubai Capitals expand with more signings, adds Sikandar Raza and Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Zimbabwe’s star all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been roped in by Dubai Capitals for the inaugural International League T20 (ILT20) season.

The franchise announced several new signings on Thursday, August 18 across their social media platforms. Apart from Raza, the Capitals have also added the likes of Sri Lankan T20 specialists Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dushmantha Chameera.

ILT20 2023: Dubai Capitals squad expands with more T20 stars

Dubai Capitals, owned by India’s GMR Group, is the sister franchise of IPL-based Delhi Capitals. As of now, they have signed seven international stars into their roster.

Here is a look at the Dubai Capitals squad so far:

Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka), Dushmantha Chameera (Sri Lanka), Rovman Powell (West Indies), Fabian Allen (West Indies), Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghanistan) and Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka).

Quite recently, other ILT20 franchises like Gulf Giants, MI Emirates and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders also unveiled their line-ups of overseas cricketers for the much-awaited tournament.

The first season of ILT20 is slated to be organised during January and February next year. Around six teams will be participating in the UAE event. Notably, as many as three of those franchises have ownership connections with popular IPL teams.
