Former cricketer Vinod Kambli played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs across his nine-year international journey with the Indian team. Notably, he averaged a staggering 54.20 in Tests with four tons and three half-centuries. Once hailed as talented as the great Sachin Tendulkar, the 50-year-old is currently looking for work as his only financial income is the pension he receives from the BCCI.

Vinod Kambli requests MCA for financial help

The former Indian batter used to mentor young cricketers at his friend Sachin Tendulkar’s TMGA (Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy) in Nerul. However, he finds Nerul too far to travel.

Kambli stated that he is currently dependent only on the Rs.30,000 pension he receives from the Indian board.

“My only payment at the moment is from the Board, for which I am really thankful and grateful. It takes care of my family," the former batter said.

“I was seeking help from the MCA. I came into the CIC (Cricket Improvement Committee), but it was an honorary job. I went to the MCA for some help. I have a family to look after.

“Mumbai cricket has given me a lot. I owe my life to this game. After retirement, there is no cricket for you. But if you want to stay steady in life, it is important to have assignments. I am looking for that from the MCA.”

Vinod Kambli also thanked his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar by describing the Indian veteran as a “very good friend who has always been there" for him.
