Ahead of South Africa's first Test match against England, Proteas captain Dean Elgar has confirmed Kagiso Rabada's availability.

Injury concerns for Rabada

Prior to the T20I series against England in July, Rabada had come forward with a serious ankle injury, following the concern, the pacer had to miss out on the T20I series against Ireland.

Elgar sure of Rabada's fitness

Although the skipper has been hesitant of declaring the squad for the first Test, he is sure of Rabada's return and believes he is close to full fitness. The pacer last played a Test match in February at Christchurch.

“KG (Rabada) has done really well the last few days. I think he is very close to being fully fit. It’s looking pretty good for us,"

He will have a bowl in the indoor nets if need be. If he has to do something today, and I’m sure they will push him, but if they feel that he doesn’t have to do extra work, then you will most probably see him in the final XI.”

Injury woes hit the Proteas

The bowling lineup has been hit hard with injury concerns, Pacer and vice-captain Temba Bavuma has also been ruled out due to an elbow injury, alongside Duanne Olivier, who was ruled out due to a torn hip flexor. In the wake of circumstances, Rabada's presence in the team will be of utmost importance.
