Australian Women's great Rachael Haynes has re-signed with Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Sydney Thunder for the upcoming season. Haynes is coming into red-hot form after winning the gold medal at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2022.

Haynes missed the last season owing to an injury and a maternity leave. In her reaction, the 35-year-old said,

“It was hard not being able to play WBBL last season for a variety of reasons and I can’t wait to get back out there and represent the Thunder Nation,”

“This club means so much more to me than just results on the field and the chance to get back out and engage with our community is something else that I’m looking forward to.”

Career at Glance

In 85 WBBL games for the Thunder since the inaugural edition, Haynes has scored 1,919 runs, including ten half-centuries.

She has amassed 3818 runs across formats, with 13 wickets to her name.

Signing Haynes was a priority for Thunder: Alex Blackwell

Club manager and first-ever WBBL-winning skipper Alex Blackwell said getting Haynes on board for the upcoming season was a priority.

“Rach is such an integral part of the Sydney Thunder and we are so pleased to have her back on board for WBBL|08. Obviously she is an elite player on the field and she has become one of the most sought after batters and leaders in world cricket."
