Sourav Ganguly thinks Virat Kohli will find his form in Asia Cup 2022

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has backed Virat Kohli to make a fighting comeback in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022. The six-team tournament will be played from 27 August to 11 September in UAE.

In the recent few months, Kohli has been enduring a slump in his form. The IPL 2022 witnessed him scoring 341 runs in 16 innings at a dismal average of 22.73.

In the recent tour to England, the 33-year-old could contribute only 45 runs in four innings. Afterwards, he did not feature in the West Indies and was rested for the upcoming Zimbabwe series as well.

However, the former Indian skipper believes Kohli will be able to convert his starts into big scores in the Asia Cup.

Let him practice, let him play matches. He is a big player and has scored plenty of runs. I am hopeful that he will make a comeback. He is just not being able to score a century and I believe he will find his form in the Asia Cup,” Ganguly was quoted as saying in an interview with India Today.

Ganguly clears air on his ICC President candidature

In November 2021, Ganguly was appointed as the Chairman of ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. Furthermore, the current ICC President Grey Barclay's term ends in November this year.

In regard to this, the cricket fraternity found Ganguly to be a strong contender to become the next chair of the apex board.

However, the former India captain has brushed off the rumours, and termed them as mere speculations.

“These are all speculations. These are not right. This doesn't happen so fast. These are all in BCCI's and Government's hands,” Ganguly said.
