  • The Hundred 2022 Women Mo Vs Tr Alana Kings All Round Performance Help Trent Rockets Start Their Campaign With A Win

Alana King's all-round performances help Trent Rockets to start their campaign with a win

Match 3 of The Hundred Women's competition witnessed Trent Rockets registering a victory by 43 runs against Manchester Originals on Saturday (August 13) at Old Trafford.

Abigail Freeborn helped Rockets post a respectable total

Invited to bat first, Rockets did not get off to a good start with no significant partnerships in the powerplay overs. The abysmal form of experienced Mignon du Preez (9) continued in this tournament as well. At the end of six overs, they were stuttering at 43/4.

It took a tremendous effort from Abigail Freeborn to resurrect the Rockets' innings and keep the run-rate ticking. She added 45 runs for the fifth wicket with Katherine Brunt.

In the end, Alana King provided two lusty blows to end the innings in a fine fashion. Freeborn remained unbeaten on 45 off 38, and Rockets posted 119 in the designated 100 balls.

Chasing a modest total, Originals got off to a flyer with Lizelle Lee hitting 15 runs off the first over. However, Kathryn Bruce took the wickets of openers Emma Lamb and Lee in quick succession.

The experienced campaigners Deandra Dottin and Amy Satterthwaite made their way back to the hut early as well.
