Top Indian players to play in the second season of the Hundred

After a successful Commonwealth Games campaign, the cricketing action is set to move for the second edition of  The Hundred Women's, which starts on the 11th of August. It was a successful first edition last year for the Women’s version of this competition where various Indian cricketers took part in it and did well.

However, there will be only three Indian cricketers who will play in the upcoming edition of The Hundred. So, let's take a look at them. 

Jemimah Rodrigues

Jemimah will play a crucial role for her team

Jemimah Rodrigues had an amazing last season with the bat, and as a result, she has been retained by her side Northern Superchargers. The Indian star batter was clearly the best in the tournament as she scored 249 runs in just seven matches at a glorious strike rate of 151. 

The 21-year-old also scored the highest individual score in The Hundred last year. She is coming into the second season on the back of outstanding Commonwealth Games where she finished the tournament as India’s second highest run-getter, having scored 146 runs in five matches at an average of 73.

Smriti Mandhana 

Smriti Mandhana will look to prove her worth in the Hundred

Smriti Mandhana has been retained by her side Southern Brave after a good first season last year. Although it was not a great season for Mandhana by her standard, having scored 167 runs at an average of 27.83, however, she is coming into the second season in great form. The star Indian opener scored 159 runs in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games at a strike rate of over 151. She will be looking to carry her form for the Southern Brave and improve on her numbers from last year.

Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma will again don the London Spirit jersey

Allrounder Deepti Sharma has been one of the main assets for team India in white ball cricket. Her all-around abilities set her apart from the rest. She had a rememberable season with London Spirits and finished the tournament as Spirits’ top wicket-taker with ten wickets in 8 matches. Sharma’s ability to keep control of the run flow makes her an essential part of any attack in the shorter formats. 

She bowled with an excellent economy of 5.26 last year and registered the best figures of 2/10. Sharma had a great commonwealth with the ball, where she played a huge role in India winning the silver medal. She will be playing for the Birmingham Phoenix in this edition of The Hundred after being roped in as a wildcard.
