The Hundred Women: Top 5 Overseas Batters 

The Women’s Hundred is all set to get underway on 11th of August. It will be the second edition of the brand new franchise league in England. The Hundred is a new concept and it seems like people are showing their interest in it, especially in the Women’s competition. 

Let’s take a look at the top five best overseas batters in the history of The Hundred Women's:

Dane van Niekerk (259 runs)

Dane van Niekerk had a brilliant inaugural season of The Hundred last year with Oval Invincibles. The South African all-rounder captained the Invincibles to their maiden title. 

The 29-year-old scored a massive 259 runs in 9 innings last year and finished the season as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. She had an average of 43.16 and had the highest score of 67. She has been retained by theOval Invincibles for the second edition and will be hoping for something similar in return like the last season.

Jemimah Rodrigues (249 runs)

India's Jemimah Rodrigues was easily the best batter of the season. The 21-year-old scored 249 runs in just 7 matches, with the highest score of 91* and at a glorious strike rate of 151 throughout the tournament. 

The Mumbai born cricketer scored the most number of half centuries last year and the most number of boundaries (41 fours and 1 six) in the tournament. 

The Indian superstar had a great Commonwealth Games and played a big part behind India winning a silver. She is amongst the three Indian internationals taking part in The Hundred this season and has been retained by her side Northern Superchargers.

Hayley Matthews (221 runs)

Hayley Matthews, another big name in Women’s cricket, is coming back to The Hundred for the second edition after a successful first season. The opening batter from Barbados took the first season by storm, scoring 221 runs in 8 matches and finishing the season as the highest run scorer for her team Welsh Fire. 

She has been retained by the Cardiff franchise and will be in action against Birmingham Phoenix on Saturday (13th August) at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Lizelle Lee (225 runs)

The destructive South Africa batter is back for the second edition of The Hundred. She was one of the lone warriors of the Manchester Originals' below average inaugural season. 

The 30-year-old announced her international retirement recently and will be looking to enjoy her post retirement time playing in different leagues around the world. 

She had a perfect inaugural season, scoring 215 runs at an average of 43 with the highest score of 68. The opening batter has been retained by her side Manchester Original.

Georgia Redmayne (187 runs)

Georgia Redmayne was one of the few players from Australia who took part in the first edition of The Hundred after the Australian internationals decided to pull out of the first edition.

 Redmayne played for Welsh Fire and was one of their crisis players. It was an uninspiring batting effort from the Fire last year but Redmayne was one who stood tall at times, saving the Cardiff franchise from embarrassment. 

The left hand batter from New South Wales scored 187 runs at an average of 31.16, she was the second highest run scorer for the franchise behind Hayley Matthews. 

Unfortunately, with other top Australian players back in the pack for the second season, Redmayne could not make it into a single squad.
