Tahlia McGrath was allowed to feature in the final of the Commonwealth Games 2022 between Australia and India, despite being tested positive for the coronavirus.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, speaking to the press post the match, said that the Indian team had no problem with McGrath playing and that it was a gesture of sportsman spirit by her side.

"They informed us before the toss. That was something not in our control because the Commonwealth has to take the decision.

We were OK because she(McGrath) wasn't very ill, so we decided to play. We had to show the sportsman's spirit. We're happy that we didn't say no to Tahiti because that (missing the final) would have been very hard-hitting for her," - Kaur was quoted by Onmanorama

McGrath played despite testing Covid-19 positive

The Australian player tested positive before the start of the game but was permitted to take the field after approval from CWG management, the International Cricket Council (ICC), Cricket Australia (CA), and match officials.

The 26-year-old was seen fielding wearing a mask during India's innings. She remained wicketless and managed just two runs in Australia's nine-run win over India at Edgbaston last evening.

The gold, silver, and bronze medals went to Australia, India, and New Zealand, respectively.
